Classroom Teacher - Permanent Full Time commencing January 2024

We are seeking applications from suitably qualified candidates for the following full time permanent Classroom Teaching position, commencing Term 1, 2024.

Classroom Teachers at Mater Dei are currently responsible to the Principal through the Deputy Principal but directly report to their Stage Leader for day to day requirements.

It is an expectation that the Classroom Teacher may teach across all Key Learning Areas and may be required to teach Infants, Primary and/or Secondary students. Applications are encouraged from teachers with experience across any/all Stages of the Primary or Secondary Curriculum, including applicants specialising in a particular Key Learning Area. 

Pre-Service teachers with current NESA Conditional Accreditation to Teach will also be considered.

In addition, the Teacher will demonstrate a graduate, proficient or highly accomplished level of professional practice, in line with the seven Australian Professional Standards for Teacher.

Essential Criteria

  • Commitment to the ethos of Catholic Education including capacity and commitment to model the Benedictine values of Love of Christ & Neighbour; Prayer; Stewardship; Hospitality; Community; and Justice & Peace.

  • Current NESA accreditation and registration to work in a NSW school, including Conditional or Provisional accreditation.

  • Ability to program and plan for the diverse needs of students.

  • Ability to use data to inform and evaluate the learning process.

  • Demonstrated commitment and capacity to work collaboratively within a team.

  • Sensitivity to the differing needs of families including privacy, confidentiality, and diversity.

  • A current Working with Children Check.

  • Up to date COVID-19 vaccination (3 doses) is a required condition of employment at Mater Dei.

 

The following experience, skills and attributes are desirable:

  • Special Education qualifications

  • Experience teaching students with Intellectual Disabilities

  • Creating and implementing Universally Designed teaching and learning experiences

  • Knowledge and/or experience implementing evidence-based practices in the classroom

Classroom Teacher - Temporary Full Time Position for T3 & T4

A unique opportunity has become available for a Classroom Teacher to join our Mater Dei Community in a temporary capacity for Term 3 and Term 4.  The position is for a full time Classroom Teacher, however, applications with part time availability may be considered. The successful applicant will work in a collaborative Team with Class Teachers, Teacher Assistants, and experienced Executive Staff.

Mater Dei School is the original educational service of Mater Dei. As one of ten schools that comprise Good Samaritan Education, it is a Catholic, independent school in the Good Samaritan Benedictine tradition. Mater Dei School is a coeducational setting for Kindergarten to Year 12 students with intellectual disability and has a strong focus on Research and Evidence-based teaching practices.

School Administrative Assistant - Part TIme

Are you a dynamic, efficient and IT savvy office administrator capable of providing general and professional level support to the Executive and others in an organisation?

Mater Dei is seeking a permanent part time Administrative Assistant to join our Team for two (2) days per week providing professional level administrative support to the School Community and Executive Team as well as being responsible for designated School Administration areas such as Reception.  Reception duties include responding and assisting with enquiries from staff, parents/carers and the wider community, welcoming and directing visitors, managing the Compass Kiosk sign in system, monitoring general school emails and correspondence.  In addition, the role encompasses responsibility for assisting staff with document preparation, resource ordering and coordinating and maintaining the Board Room, Staff Room and Print Room.   Importantly, the ability to liaise and interact with executive and staff, students, parents and other members of the Mater Dei community is a significant feature of the role.

 

Essential Criteria

  • Relevant business administration qualifications and demonstrated experience in a busy administrative, school based or executive support role

  • Highly developed administrative, organisation and time management skills with attention to detail

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) with an ability to build relationships, communicate at all levels and remain calm under pressure

  • Self-directed with a proven ability to work under limited direction and organise and prioritise a range of tasks to meet deadlines

  • Strong initiative, problem-solving skills and proven ability to develop and improve processes and practices

  • High level computing skills including the use of digital calendars and email and the ability to utilise Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint at an advanced level (minimum typing speed 60wpm)

  • Experience with using Compass Education Management System

  • Availability and flexibility to work extra days and to cover leave of other Administrative Assistants as needed

  • Commitment to our organisational values and working collaboratively within a team environment

  • Commitment to confidentiality and the ability to manage issues with sensitivity, diplomacy and tact

  • Current Working with Children Check

Casual Teacher Assistants

 Essential Criteria

  • Experience with and/or an aptitude for supporting students with disabilities and complex support needs

  • Experience with and/or an aptitude for supporting Teachers to implement differentiated learning and assessment experiences that cater for the diverse needs of students

  • Good IT and computer skills to support contemporary and innovative student learning practices, as well as utilise the school’s education management system

  • Ability to work collaboratively and autonomously and as part of a team
