Zipporah's Song, Story & Spirit
Recently we welcomed Zipporah Corser-Anu to Mater Dei School in recognition of Reconciliation Week. Zipporah, the daughter of famed Torres Strait Islander singer Christine Anu, is a proud Samu and Suy woman from Saibai Island in the Torres Strait, and an incredibly talented entertainer!
The students enjoyed singing songs in the language from Torres Strait Island of Saibi. Zipporah introduced the students and staff to language, dance and story - a wonderful way for us all to recognise Reconciliation Week.
Following the concert, students went back to their classrooms to continue learning about Reconciliation Week - its meaning and significance to all Australian people.
