2019 Golf Day Wrap Up
What a magnificent day!
Our annual Charity Golf Day, now in its twenty sixth year, was held on Friday, 12 April at Twin Creeks Golf and Country Club.
It was an amazing day with 116 players ready to hit off to a new format – the “Mater Dei Scramble” - having loads of fun at the various hole challenges to help raise funds for Mater Dei. Our many supporters also enjoyed meeting our School Captains Olivia and Ciaran escorted by Paul Wakeling around the course and throughout the event.
Guests were entertained during lunch by comedic legend Vince Sorrenti. CEO/ Principal, Tony Fitzgerald expressed his appreciation to all in the room for their support of Mater Dei and highlighted that together we are all making a real difference to the daily lives of our students.
Funds raised on the day exceeded $78,000 nett, an enormous effort by all. Proceeds from our Golf Days help fund the various programs offered to the students at Mater Dei. We could not offer these programs and build the resources we need if we did not receive these funds. We are truly grateful for this support.
We feel very blessed to have the generous help provided by so many people to allow this event to be so successful….from our event patrons, Police Local Area Command Camden, Piper Graeme Noakes to commence the day, Geoff cooking the BBQ, our wonderful Dealership volunteers, and our Major and Hole sponsors.
A particular thank you to our dedicated Committee led by Paul Wakeling, Michael Lavorato, Leigh Furnari, Neil Williamson, Roger Cubitt, Scott Martyn, Kurt Kordovolos and Emily Pascoe-Thomas for their tireless work and energy to ensure the success of the day.
Congratulations to the Toyota Financial Services team who claimed victory in the team event. Congratulations to Frankie Gerace and Susan Phillipson who won the individual male and female prizes respectively.
We sincerely thank all sponsors, volunteers and players for making the Golf Day such a success and we look forward to next year’s event!
